LOSSIEMOUTH F.C 1 V CALEY JAGS 2 Scorers Tolkley(pen) , McBain. |
Left: Charlie Christie comes close again Right: Barry Robson in action. Two of Caley Jags best performers in a disappointing display against Lossiemouth. |
Disapointing, to say the least. In the 200 or so crowd, the Caley Jags fans
are sure to have been mightly disappointed by their sides display against a Lossie
side who so recently had been trounced 4:0 by East Stirlingshire. Indeed with
only 9 minutes left on the clock they might have returned to Inverness having
witnessed a humbling defeat for the Caley Jags. Chances were scarce in the first half and while Les Fridge was not truly troubled till 3 minutes from the break nothing in the CT forwardline suggested any goals for the visitors either. Many were here for their first glimpse of Barry Wilson replacement David Bagan - initial reaction must be disappointment - the lad seems small in stature and far less pacey than the winger who has left for our southern rivals. Barry Robson on the right wing put in a far superior report card than the ex Kilmarnock man. The first half ended 0:0 with little Lossie attacking and missed CT oppotunities from Wyness who hit the post in the 29th minute and wasted a Bagan cross 4 minutes earlier, Teasdale who blasted over from 20yds out early on and Christie who had a header tipped over the bar 7 minuted from half time ( and was undoubtedly the player most deserving of a goal over the 90 mins) A quarter of an hour into the second half and Christie saw another header drift inches over the bar and 3 minutes later CT were punished when Lossie took the lead after slack defending. On the half hour mark Sheerin wasted to clear heading opportunites in the space of as many minutes and was promptly replaced by on trial ex-Ross County star Roy McBain. ( Bavidge had earlier replaced a lacklustre Byers) With only eight minutes remaining Charlie Christie was chopped down in the box as he entered the box and Tolkley converted the resulting penalty. Lossie just wouldn't give in and raced up the pitch with a fine 30yd run only to baloon the ball over the approaching Fridge. The game turned once again to the other end and on trial McBain let fly 30yds out and struck a screamer into the Lossie net - finally CT were in front - unbelievable. CT pressure then took hold with 4 corners in the space of a couple of minutes, one header from Wyness being cleared off the line. Match Judgement: Best performer Charlie Christie, Disappointment - David Bagan, Sheerin, Byers. Creditable - Barry Robson. Not recovered from break - Mike Teasdale(unfit & slow) |
